10/15/24 Update: Bike Share Meetings

Bike Share for Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow?

Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown Village governments a looking to leverage Ossining's ebike share program, called "Project MOVER." The entire program is fully funded through a grant from NYSERDA.

Two meetings about it are coming next week:

Tuesday, 10/22, 7pm
Sleepy Hollow Board of Trustees Meeting
Village Hall, 2nd Floor
(The Trustees want to know whether or not residents want a bike share system in the Village. If you can't make it, email the Village Clerk: pmccarthy@villageofsleepyhollow.org)

Wednesday, 10/23, 7pm
Warner Library, 3rd Floor, Room C
(A joint SH & TT info session, asking of bike share should happen, plus gathering feedback on potential ebike share docking station locations.)

Our Director tried one of the system's bikes. It was pretty good. Gave good help riding up Secor Rd / Main St in Ossining. The assist is via a rear hub motor.

We wish the pricing was cheaper, and had day based pricing model instead of per minute. Right now, it requires a smart phone for payment / unlocking. The team is looking at other payment methods for next year's implementation, which we hope comes to fruition.

Sleepy Hollow's Board of Trustees had a briefing and discussion about it during their 10/8 meeting. The video of it is about 30 minutes long and can be watched here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xywzdy2VBVI&t=3442

Invisible Kids?

Did you know kids "disappear" around large vehicles? No, it's not a spooky Halloween trick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDH3FDfVQl0

Many people have been injured and killed due to the large blind spots around today's vehicles. When driving, take extraordinary measures to be aware of people in your blind spots.

When considering your next vehicle, consider getting one with the smallest blind spots possible.
