Child in Critical Condition

We're sad to report a Middle School child was critically injured yesterday while crossing Beekman Ave at Andrews Ln. We wish the child a speedy recovery and our hearts go out to the family.

This is the 3rd school aged kid in 6 months that has been injured by people driving in Sleepy Hollow.

Crashes like this are no accident. People driving motor vehicles cause 24 injuries per year in Sleepy Hollow, 2 to 3 of which are serious. There have been 2 people killed in the past 10 years.

This IS preventable. In 1952, the US saw 3,000 people die of polio. Now we get vaccinated. Similarly, we need to vaccinate our streets.

This link, viewable by everyone, provides more details, context and policy solutions -- plus an invitation to attend the next Board of Trustees meeting (Tuesday, May 14, 7:00 pm).
